Volunteer Guides at Kew Gardens

Volunteer guide leading a tour at Kew Gardens.

Overview

There are a series of volunteer guide opportunities at Kew Gardens:

  • Tour guides - lead general and specialist tours of the Gardens for the public.
  • Information guides - offer a wide range of advice and guidance to our visitors at key points around the Gardens.
  • Discovery guides - lead bus tours for our visitors who have special needs or disabilities.
  • Discovery Bus drivers - we are currently seeking volunteer drivers to support and develop our Discovery Bus tours for groups with disabilities. At present we have two volunteer drivers but we would like to expand the programme and ideally would like to recruit two more drivers. The Discovery Bus is a specially adapted Optare Alero. It is longer and heavier than most minibuses. We therefore require drivers who hold a PCV D1 licence. Those with a D1 category on a standard car driving licence are not eligible to apply.

Please email tours@kew.org to receive an application form.

How to apply

We are currently not recruiting to volunteer guides, only to Discovery Bus drivers.  New opportunities to join this volunteer programme will be posted when they arise.
