Educating the next generation
Everything we do at Kew is ultimately for the benefit of the future generations who will inhabit our planet. Every year up to half a million children are welcomed to Kew Gardens and Wakehurst with their school or family. We are committed to helping every single one of them experience the wonder of plants and fungi.
We will build a new and exciting home for our educational work in the heart of Kew Gardens – a building, a landscape and educational resources to engage and delight children. This iconic, groundbreaking educational facility will offer a fabulous and enchanting world-within-a-garden to surprise and inspire. Indoor and outdoor education and play areas will target different age groups, enabling all children to learn through discovery and play – and, best of all, create memories they will cherish for a lifetime.
An architectural project of this scale can only be undertaken with the investment of philanthropists or corporate sponsors. In return, it offers a chance to engage creatively with designers, architects, craftspeople, educators and children, as well as opportunities to name parts of the project in honour of family members, friends or organisations.
You can help to inspire the next generation of scientists and citizens who will help tend our planet.
