Plant health and plant trade legislation

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

If you are a visitor to the UK and are buying plants, seeds or bulbs with the intention of taking them out of the European Union:

Please be advised that plant health legislation applies to the international movement of plants. Plant trade legislation (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora - CITES) that regulates the international movement of selected plant groups also applies to many plants such as Orchids, Cacti and succulents, Cycads, some carnivorous plants and also some types of bulbs which may be commercially produced and commonly available in garden centres. This legislation also applies to certain parts and derivatives of plants used in different products.

Unfortunately, Kew is not authorised to issue the relevant plant health or CITES documents you may need to enable entry and Customs clearance in the receiving country, or provide advice on individual countries import regulations or personal baggage allowances.
