Dendrobium (Orchidaceae) of Borneo

Dendrobium williamsonii Day & Rchb.f.

The genus Dendrobium is represented by 16 sections comprising approximately 150 taxa in Borneo, several of which have only recently been described. All taxa, including several poorly known ones, will be included in this volume. The text will include keys to sections and species, detailed descriptions, notes on distribution, habitat and ecology, etymology, and items of historical interest. An introductory chapter will include information on recent phylogenetic research, nomenclatural history and conservation. All taxa will be illustrated with a black-and-white line drawing, and colour photographs will be included where possible. Many of the Bornean species of Dendrobium are of great horticultural value, and even more are endangered in the wild. This volume will be a valuable reference for conservationists, national park authorities, ecotourists and growers alike.
