Role

Senior horticultural manager; lead partner on Bromus interruptus reintroduction in the wild (UK); support for UK Overseas Territories (Montserrat).

Managing 47 staff primarily concerned with the curation, production and display of mainly herbaceous plants; responsible for approximately one third of the outside area of Gardens visited by the public. Acting for Kew as lead partner for Bromus interruptus, organizing reintroduction of this Extinct-in-the-Wild UK species in collaboration with English Nature, Millennium Seed Bank, Paignton Zoological Gardens and private landowners/farmers. Actively choosing sites, sowing seeds, monitoring sites chosen with landowners. Part of team working in Montserrat (UK Overseas Territory) on the redevelopment of a new botanic garden (original destroyed by volcanic eruption), with strong emphasis on native and endemic plants from the island. Leading in design, layout and horticultural organization of the new garden in cooperation with local partner, the Montserrat National Trust.
