Role
Diversity and systematics of Apocynaceae subfamilies Secamonoideae and Asclepiadoideae, principally in dryland Africa.
Taxonomic revisions in Apocynaceae subfamilies Asclepiadoideae and Secamonoideae (formerly Asclepiadaceae) as precursors to tropical Africa Flora accounts. ‘Flora of Tropical East Africa’ and ‘Flora Zambesiaca’ accounts for these subfamilies are now nearing completion. Documenting taxonomic novelties in Bolivian Asclepiadoideae arising from major collection programme of John R.I. Wood. Input into collaborative phylogenetic studies on Asclepiadoideae; these include attempts to resolve problems of generic delimition in Old and New World groups of the Asclepias complex, and studies into broader scale patterns of evolution in Asclepiadioideae. Identification of incoming specimens from eastern and southern Africa prior to incorporation into the Kew Herbarium.
