Restoration and management of habitats within Queen Charlotte’s Cottage Grounds (conservation area) for nature conservation.

Practical woodland management for key habitats at the Kew site, including wetland, woodland, scrub and grassland. Provision of training to Kew Horticultural Diploma students and staff in the key principles of woodland and tree conservation management. Provision of suitable outdoor classroom environments for use by Kew’s educators for schools curricular biological activities. Promotion of nature conservation throughout the Gardens and investigating how effective current management strategies are in terms of maximising biodiversity opportunities, including research into and promotion of decaying wood habitats with particular reference to the stag beetle (Lucanus cervus). Implementation of local and national biodiversity action plans (BAP) relevant to the Kew site. Incorporating Agenda 21 principles and practices within the management of the Natural Areas.
