Role
Coordination of and admin support for International Diploma Courses and their derivatives.
Responsible for Herbarium Techniques programme, including: Structure and Content of Parent (Kew International Diploma) and Regional Courses (overseas derivatives). Maintenance of an acceptable standard and a clear assessment structure. Delivering a major component of the course as the senior tutor. Selection of candidates; management of Finances. Joint editor for new edition of the ‘Herbarium Handbook’ currently being formulated. Joint Course co-ordinator for the other International Diploma Courses. Assisting in selection of participants, making domestic arrangements, managing sponsorship grants etc. Student welfare and some tuition. Develop and run (including tuition) other programmes as required, such as study days for universities and professional groups. Responsible for all aspects of the Introduction to Botany Course for non science staff. General support to the team as required; this included contributing original ideas and help with development and presentation of the Chelsea Flower Show exhibit in 2005. Support for events such as the PhD day, and occasional assistance given to education across the institution.
