Robinson (1931) noted that Hieronymus, having noticed his variety was of a homonymic species name. He renamed the species as Stevia soratensis, but also failed to transfer the variety. Robinson (1931: 1516) considered he had provided the correct nomenclatural status, failing to note Hieronymus combination was perfectly valid.
