Conyza symphitifolia Mill., Gard. Dict., ed. 8, Conyza no. 10 (1768). Type: The tenth sort grows naturally at La Vera Cruz, from whence it was sent me by the late Dr. William Houstoun. Neotype (designated by Khan & Jarvis, 1989: 661): Houston s.n. (BM).

Note: The lectotype, selected by Turner (1982: 134) is, A. Tonduz 8597, in GH, also repeated by Robinson (2006: 29). Nothing is mentioned in GH about the Pittier syntypes having Tonduz numbers as well.
