Role
Evolution, systematics and biogeography of Poranthereae (Phyllanthaceae; Euphorbiaceae sensu lato).
Detailed investigation of the c. 110 species of the tribe Poranthereae in the Phyllanthaceae, including Actephila, Andrachne, Leptopus, Meineckia, Oreoporanthera, Poranthera, Zimmermannia and Zimmermanniopsis. Work at species and genus level. Traditional and modern methods are combined to piece together the evolutionary history of this newly circumscribed tribe. Herbarium work, botanical illustration, laboratory work, biogeographical analysis, collaboration with botanists at RBG Kew, Europe, Russia and China, herbarium visits within the UK, Europe, Russia and China, conference presentations and forthcoming field work in Vietnam. Taxonomic revision of Andrachne and Leptopus for the Flora of China. The output of this project is to include a dated molecular phylogeny, confirmed generic delimitation and nomenclature of the tribe as well as taxonomic revisions of Andrachne and Leptopus.
