Role
Phytochemistry of Aloes and other plants; biological activity of plant constituents; structure-activity relations of plant chemicals.
Comparative phytochemistry of Aloe based on surveys of distribution of phenolic compounds in the leaf exudates, chiefly anthraquinones and chromones. Isolation and structural identification of unknown compounds from these plants. Preparation of samples of selected compounds for investigation of biological activity. Compilation of a database of literature on Aloaceae. Preparation of reviews from the literature on Aloe gel chemical characters and therapeutic activities.
