Role

Ex situ conservation of threatened plant species in Madagascar, including succulents, orchids and palms.

Co-ordinator of the Kew Foundation & Friends-funded Threatened Plants Project in Madagascar. Responsibilities include establishing protocols and MoUs with partners, organizing and participating in fieldwork (collecting herbarium specimens, seeds, and ecological & biological data), arranging technical meetings with partners, managing the project database and project finances, and identification & distribution of herbarium specimens. Also producing a Malagasy language field guide to the palms of Madagascar with Henk Beentje.
