Role
Systematics and Biogeography of Phyllanthus (Phyllanthaceae) of Madagascar and responsibility for Kew Madagascar office in Antananarivo.
Management of the Kew Madagascar office in Antananarivo, including responsibility for staff and students. Main representative of Kew in Madagascar, responsible for liaising with Malagasy authorities. Currently undertaking research for a PhD project (Doctorat du 3 ème cycle in Systematic Botany at the Botany Department, University of Antananarivo), entitled ‘Systematics and Biogeography of Phyllanthus L. (Phyllanthaceae) in Madagascar’, supervised by Petra Hoffmann (Kew) and Charlotte Rajeriason (Antananarivo). Project work includes taxonomic revision of Madagascan Phyllanthus for the ‘Flore de Madagascar et des Comores’, a morphological DELTA database and IUCN conservation assessments for all c. 70 taxa. Main areas of competency are project management, botanical inventory, environmental impact assessments and research in plant systematics. Participated in an Earthwatch training course on inventory of rare plants, Taita Hills, Kenya in 2000. Visits to London and Paris to study herbarium material in 2002 and 2003. Participation at the 17
