Role

Supporting Kew as UK Scientific Authority for CITES plants, assisting with training and undertake and publish plant trade research.

Carry out the background research required to provide scientific advice to Defra and to communicate this advice regarding CITES permit applications for trade in listed plants. Providing support and scientific advice to Defra regarding policy development and to HM Revenue and Customs, and Defra with inspections, identification and seizure of CITES controlled material. Carrying out research on CITES plant groups and species in trade and contributing to CITES training and the preparation and production of training materials. Production of the CITES plants newsletter for the European region.
