Role
The application of international conventions to plants, capacity-building, plant trade research.
Advising the UK government on the application of international conventions to plants. Packaging science for government and inter-governmental decision-makers and international negotiations. The investigation of trade in wild plants and assessment of possible detrimental trade. Working with partner countries to identify methods to correct detrimental trade. Developing tools to help countries implement their obligations under international conventions. Managing Kew’s role as UK CITES Scientific Authority for Plants and supporting implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
