GIS Unit Coffee - Ethiopia live maps from the field
Our Coffea expert Aaron Davis is leading an expedition with local counterparts to the highlands of Ethiopia to look for wild coffee.
The team includes Jenny Williams from the GIS Unit who will be helping with mapping and Paul Little, resident Kew photographer, who will be taking photos along the way.
Kew’s research recently revealed that wild coffee is predicted to be strongly affected by modelled future climate change (see the report here).
The team will check the status of populations to help improve the model predictions and also to see what other threats might be affecting this precious species.
The map below shows where the field team are and what they are up to. Currently it shows our geotagged tweets from the field (when mobile networks are available). Please zoom in to see the detail or click on the tweets at the bottom.
