Contains detailed country statistics, charts, and maps compiled from the CIA World Factbook
Search databases (about 6,000,000 names for 4,200,000 locations). Locations are compiled using data from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and from the U.S. Geological Survey. Can display a Google map search result.
Search over 7,000,000 place names (mostly from the GEOnet Names Server) using a phonetic transcription of the place. The search is spelling tolerant, with more emphasis on the vowels.
HerpNet Georeferencing Information
How to georeference. Also a collaborative effort by natural history museums to establish a global network of herpetological collections data. Data from over 5.5 million specimens available for searching.

Institut Geographique National. Maps of France (including overseas territories).
Lists geographic features, populated places and administrative buildings. Not extensive, however does link to all names listed on a 1:250,000 map of Slovakia (1944).
