Angiosperm Phylogeny Group III


Article appearing in The Independent newspaper (page 3, 23 November 1998) highlighting some of the changes in plant family relationships proposed in APG I
The Angiosperm Phylogeny Group (APG) process of reclassifying the families and orders of the angiosperms is drawing to a close. The first system published in 1998 was followed by an update in 2003, but the changes were minimal. In the update, many families and genera for which relationships were speculative were placed and four new orders were recognised. The final update (to be published in 2007-8) will likewise be minimal.
