European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy (EDIT)
(project completed 2011)

Developing integration between European Taxonomic institutes focussing on the Internet.

EDIT (European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy) brings together 27 institutions from Europe, Russia and the USA in a Network of Excellence funded by the European Union

EDIT – The European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy – was a 5-year Network of Excellence project funded by the European Union to promote integration between the taxonomic institutes of Europe. The goal was to move the fragmented but nevertheless very significant taxonomic capability of the European region towards a level of integration that would enable European taxonomic resources to be brought to bear in a more integrated and efficient way and contribute in important ways to the solution of major environmental and biodiversity problems in the world.
