Conservation Assessment and Red listing of European Orchids
The first Red List assignment of European orchids
Red listing is an important tool for identifying species facing the risk of extinction and raising awareness of species and habitats loss, in addition to helping policymakers and communities prioritise conservation actions and measures needed to sustain biodiversity.
As part of the European Species Assessments (Red List of Vascular Plants) project, 150 orchid species were assessed at a European level for the first time according to the IUCN Red List criteria and categories.Conservation assessments for each species have been published on the IUCN website and can be found at www.iucn.org
