Checklist of the Plants of the Arabian Peninsula
A project to create and maintain a searchable online database of plants of the Arabian Peninsula.
In the first phase of this project, Kew is working to collate all existing information from floras, field guides and checklists for all countries within the Arabian Peninsula, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. The status of each species name is checked and updated to provide a list of accepted names and synonyms for the region.
In the second phase of the project, the distribution of each species across the Arabian Peninsula and occurrence outside the region will be added and conservation status assessed.
The checklist will provide an invaluable resource for conservation, environmental management and habitat restoration in the Arabian Peninsula.
