Taxonomic research on Begoniaceae, primarily from SE Asia, especially Borneo, New Guinea, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

Taxonomic expertise: Begoniaceae, Balanitaceae. Begoniaceae work includes currently completing co-authored ‘Flora of Tropical East Africa' Begoniaceae account, Begonia of Borneo account (book) including description of new species. Section Symbegonia and Begonia of Mulu in preparation; accumulating data for other areas including Sulawesi, Philippines and Thailand. Recently presented papers at ‘Flora Malesiana' symposium in Philippines (2004) and ‘Flora of Thailand' meeting in Dublin, 2005. Regional expertise in SE Asia & Malesian Region, NW Australia and Mediterranean.
