Role
KMCC Assistant Team Manager and MSBP projects
Assisting with the management of KMCC, ensuring the development of the team and delivery of Kew’s projects in Madagascar. The main task is coordinating the seed collection programme in Madagascar for the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership (MSBP) in liaison with the local partner, Silo National des Graines Forestières (SNGF). Responsibilities include implementing a seed collecting programme with a dedicated team and partner projects (e.g. WWF and Missouri Botanic Garden’s protected areas), prioritising target species, identifying herbarium specimens and managing the project database and GIS. The role also involves leading a small team within KMCC developing capacity for habitat restoration, ecological profiling, conservation assessments and rapid botanical surveys. Research includes the systematics, ecology and biogeography of the genus Aloe, as a general model for in-situ and ex-situ conservation of endangered species in the drylands of Madagascar.
