Role
Responsibility for day-to-day management of the Millennium Seed Bank and Wakehurst Place libraries.
Responding to requests for literature and other information; ordering books and training staff and visitors in the use of the libraries, Library Catalogue, electronic resources and databases and bibliographic management. Editing ‘Samara', the newsletter for MSBP partners. Cataloguing bibliographic products (published books & serials, grey literature and electronic resources), using international rules and metadata standards, i.e. AACR2 and MARC21, for inclusion in RBG Kew's electronic Library Catalogue. Quality-control of library catalogue entries, i.e. checking data input by others and authorizing subject and name authorities. Temporarily caretaking various library cataloguing projects and the Library Catalogue system until a new Systems Librarian is in position.
