Role

Taxonomic research into Elaeocarpaceae, its position in Oxalidales, generic relationships and infrageneric groups in Elaeocarpus; 'Flora Malesiana' account.

Recent molecular work has placed Tremandraceae in the heart of Elaeocarpaceae, but lacks obvious morphological support; there is some molecular support for the disposition of genera (previously assigned to Elaeocarpaceae) suggested in Coode (1985, 1987). Recent molecular work in Sydney has begun to throw light on infrageneric groupings in Elaeocarpus (the largest genus with c. 350 spp. overall). Involvement in an advisory capacity with this molecular study. Preparation of an account for 'Flora Malesiana' continues: taxonomic decisions have largely been made and keys and descriptions drawn up; descriptions for Elaeocarpus are being prepared in DELTA format, now about 96% complete for the Flora Malesiana area.
