Breathing Planet Programme Strategy 6 - Running repairs

Conserving what remains of plant diversity and intact habitats is vital, but we can do more. By restoring lost and damaged habitats, we can protect diversity, improve marginal land and increase the Earth’s capacity to lock up carbon in plant biomass.  We are using the breadth of Kew’s information and skills to make a major new contribution with partners to repairing and renewing plant cover in areas where it has been lost or damaged.  Kew is helping to establish a global network of partners in restoration ecology to facilitate the use of seed banks and other botanic garden resources in the urgent repair and re-establishment of damaged native vegetation.
