Species for the garden were selected by designer Marcus Barnett for both their beauty and utility. Uses include medicinal e.g. angelica (Angelica archangelica), food and drink e.g. elder (Sambucus nigra), and industrial e.g rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis).
