- BSc (Hons), Open University, 2006
My role as Seed Processing Manager involves managing and supporting a team of Seed Curation Assistants in the processing and curation of seed collections and associated herbarium specimens arriving at the Millennium Seed Bank (MSB). This includes initial assessments of incoming seed collections, seed cleaning, x-raying, seed number determination, banking of seed collections, germination testing and preparation for cryo-preservation. I conduct and participate in training courses in seed-collection and curation practices with overseas partners and with MSB visitors. I participate in advisory work and field expeditions with overseas partners and within the UK. I undertake data accessioning on to Seed Bank Database (SBD), regeneration and harvesting of relevant collections, provide feedback and information to Partners, training visitors, volunteers, new staff, staff and others. I conduct tours of the MSB and host visitors as required. I research germination issues of various collections to assess viability and process seed order requests.
