Role: 

Systematics and floristics of Poaceae, especially Africa and China; and of Eriocaulaceae, with emphasis on Old World.

Floristic accounts for Flora of Tropical East Africa, Flora of Ethiopia and Flora of China (Grasses); and for Flora of Ceylon, Flora of Tropical East Africa, Flora Zambesiaca and Flore du Cameroun (Eriocaulaceae). Collaboration with ILRI (Ethiopia) on data quality of forage grasses in their field genebank. Also, Portulacaceae for Flora of Tropical East Africa.
