As Senior Research Leader, Seed Conservation, I am leading a research group and a team of partnership co-ordinators. I am responsible for maintaining and expanding the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership with its individual projects and technical networks. We aim to have 25% of the world’s bankable plant species collected and safely stored at Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank and partner seed banks worldwide.
I am a plant ecologist with a wide range of research interests. In my research, I study individual plant behaviour (for example, seed germination) in relation to environmental factors and the responses of plants to human interference on different time and spatial scales. I am also particularly interested in Crop Wild Relatives and the contribution these plants make towards global food security.
