Using seeds

Our seeds are used in many different ways, from investigating samples for research purposes, to successfully storing seeds to support habitat restoration.

Since 2003, Kew's Millennium Seed Bank Partnership has supplied around 3,000 samples furthering scientific knowledge. Understanding how seeds can be successfully harvested, cleaned, frozen and reintroduced means that global habitats can be restored to their former glory. Furthering sustainable development research also means that our discoveries can be applied to medical and environmental studies.
