Recycle your Christmas tree at Wakehurst Place

Press release

9 January 2007

Put your Christmas tree to good use by bringing it along to Wakehurst Place this weekend (January 13 and 14) to be recycled.

Kew's country garden, at Ardingly, near Haywards Heath, will be collecting trees for recycling throughout the weekend.

The trees are turned into wood chippings, which are used for a compost mix, and put to good use throughout the 500 acre Wakehurst estate.

Trees will be collected in the Wakehurst car park between 10am and 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Iain Parkinson, Wakehurst's Conservation and Woodlands Manager, said: "It's great to see that recycling Christmas trees is now an established tradition during the festive season. By recycling your tree at Wakehurst Place you can reduce the pressure on landfill sites and contribute to the development of the gardens at the same time."

For further information ring 01444 894066 or visit the website www.kew.org.

Wakehurst Place, at Ardingly, four miles north of Haywards Heath is open daily, from 10am.
