Last Chance to See Henry Moore at Kew Gardens!

15 September 2007 – 30 March 2008

Supported by The Gatsby Charitable Foundation

Spring will be the very last chance to see the Henry Moore at Kew exhibition, which closes on 30 March. Seize the chance to see this widely-acclaimed show as the days get longer and the spring bulbs burst into flower!

And on the evenings of Friday 28 and Saturday 29 March a special night-time viewing is being offered from 7pm until 10pm.

Twenty of the 28 pieces are being lit for visitors to enjoy during a dusk-to-darkness stroll; a perfect opportunity to see the exhibition against the twilight backdrop of the Gardens before it leaves Kew.

Tickets can be purchased in advance via www.kew.org. The cost is £10 for adults and accompanied children of 16 years of age and younger are admission-free. The concessionary price, including Friends of Kew and Season-ticket-holders, is £7. Money raised will help fund Kew's plant conservation and science efforts around the world and in the Gardens.

The Nash Conservatory, which hosts an exhibition providing background to the work of Henry Moore, will be open and visitors can watch a short film, Art of Henry Moore, in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. The Orangery and Victoria Plaza café will be serving hot food and drinks.

An extensive range of gifts linked with Moore at Kew will be on display at the Victoria Plaza shop. The exhibition catalogue and wide selection of books on Moore's work complement Kew's contemporary range of Henry Moore sketch pads, stationery, mugs, t-shirts and bags.

Dave Yard, project manager for Kew said, ‘We have been delighted to host such a significant exhibition at Kew. Henry Moore was not only one of the 20th century's greatest sculptors but he also took his inspiration from nature and the unique landscape of Kew Gardens provides a fitting backdrop for his work. To see 20 pieces of Moore's work lit up on the last weekend is something we are all really excited about.”

This landmark exhibition of monumental works by the internationally acclaimed sculptor Henry Moore was curated by the Henry Moore Foundation and is the first exhibition of its kind ever to be held in London, with 28 large-scale sculptures on show in Kew 's unique 300 acre World Heritage Site landscape. See www.kew.org/henry-moore to plan your visit and learn more about the exhibition.

The astounding success of Moore at Kew has allowed thousands of people to enjoy Henry Moore's most imposing sculptures against the stunning backdrop of the Royal Botanic Gardens. For those wishing to learn more about Henry Moore, the annual visitors' season at Perry Green, where he lived and worked for much of his life, offers a privileged insight into the working practices and prodigious output of the artist. As well as tours of Henry Moore's studios and grounds, visitors can enjoy an arresting new exhibition, Henry Moore Textiles, which illuminates the artist's little-known work with fabrics, while Hoglands, Henry and Irina Moore's home – meticulously restored and only opened to the public for the first time last year – reveals how the artist lived through his most prolific period.

Visits to Perry Green are made by appointment: for further information, see www.henry-moore-fdn.co.uk or telephone 01279 843333 to book your place on a tour.
