Arts Gigantic comes to Wakehurst

The Theatre of Widdereshins visits Kew's country garden as part of the Mid Sussex arts festival, Arts Giganic on Saturday 3 June.

Wakehurst Place plays host to the highly creative puppet theatre at the end of half term for the afternoon performance of The King's Got Donkey's Ears! which starts at 2pm.

The show has toured the south of England to much acclaim, having played to audiences in London, Tunbridge Wells, Havant and Bath.

The shows tells the story of how a walk in the woods should be fun or at least for a visit to Grandma’s. Not for Good King Orik. He went in smiling and came out cursed with the great big furry ears of a donkey! Shocked, embarrassed and very upset, the King runs home and hides in his tower, desperately hoping no one finds his secret.

The event is free for Garden visitors. Spectators are advised to bring comfortable outdoor clothing. It is recommended for ages four and upwards and lasts just under an hour.

The 500-acre estate is on the B2028 between Ardingly and Turners Hill. Gates open at 10am daily.
