Kew's Archive Collection - Free Exhibition & TalkThe Fabulous History of Plant Hunting, 18th-20th CenturiesThe Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew's Archives team is holding a special exhibition and series of FREE tours and talks on special dates in October, November and December as part of the Archive Awareness Campaign 2006. The events, being held in the Herbarium at Kew Gardens, aim to encourage both existing users and new users to appreciate archives. Come and find out, through original archive documents, about the history of plant hunting under Joseph Banks in the 18th and early 19th centuries, and later under the Hookers' directorship. This will be a unique opportunity to discover what it was like to travel in new distant lands, and learn about the plants, the landscapes and the people that these intrepid travelers met. Tour dates and times are as follows:- 14 Oct 11am Please note that the maximum number of visitors on a tour will be 12.
