NEW VIEWS
A book displaying new international garden and plant photography produced in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Conceived as a result of the successful Garden Photographers’ Exhibition 2004 - part of Kew’s summer festival - New Views of Kew. This new book binds the images into a particularly beautiful and appealing collection of garden and plant photography.
New Views contains 100 stunning photographs, both colour and black and white, from around the world showing a diverse contrast of styles and techniques. The subject matter ranges from close- ups of individual plants and plant details to beautiful landscape shots of gardens, interspersed with occasional quotations and comments from the judge’s on their favourite images. The images were shot on locations as far a field as Australia, Barbados, France, USA and UK with approximately a third shot at Kew Gardens and Wakehurst Place, showing the world famous botanical collection in a new and intriguing light.
The authors, Henrietta Van den Bergh and Helen Fickling are location photographers specialising in gardens and landscapes. They both have photographs in the exhibition and book, alongside images from some of the world’s most renowned professional photographers including Jonathan Buckley, Andrea Jones, Andrew Lawson, Clive Nichols and Derek St Romaine. The foreword has been written by Professor Sir Peter R Crane FRS, Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and an introductory essay by Clare Foster, Editor of Gardens Illustrated.
New Views is beautifully designed with a sensitive mix of photographs and text giving it pace and texture. It will appeal to both photographic and art enthusiasts as well plant and garden lovers alike, who will adore the visual feast this book offers. No one could fail to find something they like in this captivating compilation. New Views is available for purchase from the shop at Kew Gardens.
