Half term at Wakehurst place. FREE drop-in activities

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MicroscopeFREE half-term fun and excitement is promised at Kew's country garden later this month (October).

There will be drop-in assisted Workshops at Wakehurst Place, Ardingly, to amuse and entertain budding young scientists, and those young at heart.

The Mansion Science Zone and the Orange Room at the Millennium Seed Bank are the cool places to be on Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th October.

The events are aimed at all aged seven years and upwards.

Activities are Free and are “Drop in” – there is no need to book. They will run between 10am and 3.30pm.

The theme of the activities is “Voyages in Time and Space” and will include:

“Looking at the many and varied strategies employed by plants to ensure their reproduction.”

Dandelion seeds“How seeds are equipped to travel away from their plant parents.”

“Food for the voyage – how do plants provide for the journey of their seed?”

“Using the mini seed bank (developed by the Millennium Seed Bank Project) to save your own seeds.”

Testing yellow liquidAn Art Activity will be run in the Mansion Billiard Room during the week. This activity will be unsupervised on
Monday 24th and Friday 28th October but will give children the chance to draw unusual plant material on display in the room. (All ages).

Admission for all under 17 at Wakehurst is FREE.
