Titan arum

Watch it grow - second 2005 flowering

Latest news:
The second titan arum for 2005 flowered overnight on Saturday 18 June, having begun to unfurl from mid-day. By 5pm it was already more than half way open and starting to emit it's pungent aroma. Whilst we would have expected it to last longer, by the morning of Sunday 19 June it had already to a large extent closed up, possibly due to the extermely high temperatures.

This particular flower grew from a much smaller corm and we didn't even expect it to flower this year. It did not however reach the record size of other recent flowerings.
