Strawberry Guava

Strawberry Guava

This guava has juicy, dark-red fruits with a strawberry-like flavour.

It grows to around 6 metres high, and has aromatic dark-green leaves, creamy white flowers and distinctive reddish bark.

Native to the Atlantic coast of Brazil, Strawberry Guava (Psidium cattleianum) has been introduced to many other areas where it is now causing problems. It forms dense thickets where other plants cannot grow.

Did you know?
Strawberry Guava is a serious threat to the natural habitats on all six Hawaiian Islands and elsewhere.
Conservation programmes are now beginning to tackle this invasive species on a large scale.
