Orange, Lemon, Citron, Lime, Mandarin...
Known for their juicy, sharp taste these citrus fruit are all native to south-east Asia.

The history of citrus trees dates back 20 million years, but most citrus fruit have been developed over the last few centuries. Citrons (Citrus medica) were the first of these fruits to reach Europe. Oranges arrived in the UK in Roman times; they are now the most widely grown citrus fruit in the world.

Kew’s citrus collection was originally grown in the Orangery.
Citrus fruit are full of citric acid and are an important source of Vitamin C.
