Australian Forest and Tree-ferns

Forests and woodlands cover just 20% of Australia (155.6 million hectares), but many of the country’s animals and plants live there.

Dominated by gum trees (Eucalyptus), wattles (Acacia) and paperbarks (Melaleuca), there are also many species of tree-fern thriving there. There are two main genera of tree-ferns – Cyathea and Dicksonia.

Did you know?
Australian forests and woodlands contain more species than the whole of Europe, and 75% of Australia’s plants.
