Summer Bedding 2005 - Palm House Terrace
This year’s bedding schemes have been inspired by Kew’s
Gardens of Glass festival.
Bedding designed by Steve Tucker
Steve has worked at Kew for 15 years and is responsible for all
the seasonal planting areas around the Palm House and the Broad
Walk.
Passion
CONCEPT: “The theme of this display is colour and people’s
response to different colours. Red and yellow are the main components.”
Red - a prominent colour commonly associated with passion; it could
represent love, hate or envy.
Yellow - has an uplifting and welcoming aura. It attracts attention
even in dull weather.
Black - acts as a good contrast, it works well with any colour in
the garden. Although it is often linked with mourning, evil and
depressive thoughts, the red and yellow counteract its sobriety.”
Key plants
Dahlia - This is Bishop of Llandaff, my favourite dahlia.
What a colour!
