Spring bulbs
Cherry Walk
Spring brings a sea of colour to Cherry Walk as the electric-blue
Siberian Squill, Scilla siberica, burst into bloom. 300,000
bulbs planted here in 2002 flower
between March and April under the
cherry blossom.
Did you know?
• Two Scillas are native to Britain, the Autumn Squill,
Scilla autumnalis, and the Spring Squill, Scilla
verna.
• One of the most winter-hardy bulbs, they naturalise
well in grass areas.
