Now look at two more pictures.

Painting of a banyan and templeThe first was painted by a British man and is a view of a wood of Banyan trees with some temples in the background.

The second is a painting by an Indian of farmers working in the fields.

Either tell a friend what's in the picture, or write out a very exact description in the boxes.

Now look at all four paintings again.

Write down what you think were the differences between Indian and British art at the time they were painted. Think about depth, views, distance and colour. Which do you prefer, and why?
