Marigold - food

Marigold isn't really used as a food, but there are some instances where flower extracts have been added to nutritional supplements and as a food colouring.

Food colouring and decoration

Extracts of marigold flowers may be used in some nutritional supplements as a source of carotenoid compounds. Because marigold flowers contain the yellow carotenoid pigments they may also be used to add colour to some food products. They have been used to colour pet and livestock foods.

Petals from marigolds can be frozen in small ice-cubes and served in drinks such as Pimms.
