Kew's work in Madagascar
Orchid Conservation
Malagasy orchids can be propagated in nurseries using
simple and cheap technology. Money raised by the Threatened Plants
of Madagascar Appeal is helping us work with our colleagues at the
botanic garden at Tsimbazaza, to set up a nursery and develop appropriate
propagation methods for endangered orchids. Plants will be provided
for educational displays and for future reintroduction programmes,
and we will also help train local conservationists.
