The Mansion Pond

The waterlily filled Mansion Pond

The Mansion Pond

The waterlily-filled Mansion Pond is an integral feature of the Wakehurst Place landscape. It is an exceptionally rare visitor who does not take a picture of the house mirrored in it, with the numerous waterfowl paddling across the shining reflection.

Because of its position, the Mansion Pond connects many garden features. The Tony Schilling Asian Heath Garden leads directly away from it and the Slips are viewed from the charming balustrade.

An artificial rock outcrop is carpeted with low-growing perennials and there are some splendid Japanese maples, star magnolias and rhododendrons.

As with all water features, visitors need to take special care of children. Many recent plantings around the pond have been made specifically to take heed of Health and Safety regulations.
