Horsebridge Wood: Gulf & South Coast
The poorer soils in this province are typically home to extensive
pine forests which have adapted to frequent forest fires. Broad-leaved
trees grow in areas which are lower and wetter, or higher places
away from fire danger. There are a few conifers which are not evergreen,
but deciduous. Swamp cypress is one of them and grows in this province,
on flood plains and muddy river banks. There are swamp cypresses
at Westwood Lake and in the Iris Dell, showing the pneumatophores
