Horsebridge Wood: Californian
Mild winters, hot dry summers - this climate is almost Mediterranean.
Many of the plants there grow nowhere else in North America and
even in California, only in very restricted areas. The Monterey
pine, for instance, is found in natural stands in only three places
on the narrow coastal fringe between the mountains and the sea,
yet it is one of the most valuable and widely-planted forestry trees,
