Horsebridge Wood: Californian

Mild winters, hot dry summers - this climate is almost Mediterranean. Many of the plants there grow nowhere else in North America and even in California, only in very restricted areas. The Monterey pine, for instance, is found in natural stands in only three places on the narrow coastal fringe between the mountains and the sea, yet it is one of the most valuable and widely-planted forestry trees, particularly in the Southern Hemisphere countries such as New Zealand.
